Protect Your Personal Information

  • Never share your home address, workplace, or financial details with someone you have not met
  • Use Saathiya's in-app messaging instead of sharing personal phone numbers too early
  • Be cautious about sharing social media profiles until you feel comfortable
  • Do not share documents like Aadhaar, PAN, or passport details with matches

Meeting in Person

  • Always meet in a public place for your first few dates
  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting
  • Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting place
  • Keep your phone charged and have a plan if you need to leave
  • Trust your instincts - if something feels off, it is okay to leave

Video Call First

  • Use Saathiya's video call feature before meeting in person
  • A video call helps verify that the person matches their profile
  • Pay attention to inconsistencies between their profile and what they say
  • If they refuse video calls repeatedly, consider that a warning sign

Red Flags to Watch For

  • Requests for money, gifts, or financial help
  • Pressure to move communication off the platform immediately
  • Refusing to video call or meet in person after extended chatting
  • Inconsistent stories or vague answers about their life
  • Aggressive, controlling, or disrespectful behavior
  • Profiles that seem too good to be true

Emotional Safety

  • Take your time getting to know someone - there is no rush
  • Do not feel pressured to share personal stories or photos you are not comfortable with
  • Set clear boundaries and communicate them honestly
  • If someone does not respect your boundaries, report them

Reporting & Support

  • Report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior using the in-app report button
  • Block users who make you uncomfortable - you do not owe anyone an explanation
  • Contact our safety team at safety@saathiya.app for urgent concerns
  • In case of immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first
